UOMi and Clínicas Mi receive the IASLC Cancer Care Team Award

The oncology service at Clínicas Mi (UOMI) has received the IASLC Cancer Care Team Award 2025, considered the highest international recognition in lung cancer care. The award was presented at the World Conference on Lung Cancer, held at Fira de Barcelona from September 6 to 9 of this year.

Granted by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), this recognition highlights the quality and commitment of teams that provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to people with lung cancer. In its more than 25 editions, this is the first time the distinction has been awarded to a Spanish team.

Previously, the award had been granted to world-renowned institutions such as Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple Health Clinicians (Philadelphia, USA), Baptist Cancer Center (Memphis, USA), Mount Sinai Hospital (New York, USA), the “Ángel H. Roffo” Oncology Institute (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, affiliated with Tongji University (Shanghai, China), among others.

What sets the IASLC Cancer Care Team Award apart from other honors is the way teams are selected: no applications or fees are required; instead, patients and their families nominate the candidates. Afterwards, an international panel of specialists evaluates the proposals under strictly professional criteria.
