AEACaP

The project Prescription of physical exercise in lung cancer patients managed by The Ricky Rubio Foundation and led by Dr. Santiago Viteri of UOMI Cancer Center, has been awarded as one of the beneficiaries of the 2022 edition of the Dulce López – Fabrizio Facchini of the AEACaP.

The project aims to implement a physical activity program to improve the functional capabilities of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who are scheduled to be treated by lung resection.

The physical exercise prescription will be individualized and adapted to each patient and will be used as an additional pre and post-surgery treatment. The patient’s health will be monitored 24 hours a day, studying parameters related to the patient’s health such as respiratory frequency, oxygen saturation and heart rate variability. Each patient’s participation will last 1 year.

The aim of the study is to improve the patient’s quality of life, with an increase in the patient’s capabilities through sport, thereby minimizing the symptoms caused by the disease and surgery.
